Hi, I'm Eva
& I PLAY THE DRUMS.
& I PLAY THE DRUMS.
Eva Friedman is distinctly incapable of playing the trumpet. Good news, though - it was this, coupled with an unlikely heel injury, that set her on her path to playing the drums. She was in her element from the moment she sat behind the drum kit, and quickly dove into as many genres and styles as she could with a number of the best teachers her home state of New Jersey had to offer. From marching band to jazz to pop to fusion to rock, every challenge was an opportunity to grow.
Eva relocated to the west coast in 2014, under the tutelage of renowned drum instructor Fred Dinkins. Shortly thereafter, she began her search for a bagel that’s remotely comparable to those on the east coast.
If you’re wondering why she looks so familiar, it’s likely because she became a viral sensation after performing in the 2018 Oscars broadcast during Keala Settle’s performance of ‘This is Me’ from The Greatest Showman. Or maybe you recognize her from drumming on American Song Contest. If it’s not that, then it could be her feature in the June 2018 issue of DRUM! Magazine and Autostraddle’s weekly roundup. Aside from being famous on the internet, Eva has served both as a sought after studio and live drummer for multiple artists including Alan Murphy, Britt Kusserow, Cowboy Boy, and little bit.
Eva hopes to see the world from behind the drum set and inspire other young girls and women to create space for themselves not only in the world of music, but the world of drumming as well.
